Emotionally Focused Family Therapy
We help families create relationships that heal. Using attachment-based experiential therapies we help parents and kids identify concerns that have created blocks to engagement and support.
As kids begin to trust their parents to be more responsive and engaged, families begin to experience more positive interactions.
We then guide them through a process of identifying what they need from their parents (their attachment needs).
Finally we help them risk asking their parents for those needs so the family can talk about and solving the deep problems the family is facing.

Our family has been transformed through the process of Emotionally Focused Therapy and has begun healing from years of destructive relationships with our kids.

We believe the best place for a child of any age to heal and grow is through developing a secure bond with one or more parents. In our complex lives many things prevent parents from being fully available and responsive to support a kid in every place they need. These blocks get even more challenging as kids move toward the teen years and their biological programing to prepare to launch leaves them with competing needs: 1) the need to explore and learn on their own and 2) the need for a safe base to return to when they need/want it.
As a child moves into and through their adult years, old hurts and new injuries may impair the parent-child bond. No matter how old a child is, they will never outgrow their need for acceptance from and connection with their parents.

Teens & Tweens
We focus on getting out of negative patterns of interaction. Then we strengthen or re-build the parent-child bond as parents become highly assessable, responsive, and engaged to their kid(s). Parents become a resource for navigating turbulent teen years and a safe base to return to when desired. Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) provides the primary roadmap. Occasionally Theraplay Activities are incorporated.

Adult Children
We work to recognize and understand the blocks to parent-child connection so we can to get out of negative patterns. Then we create a stronger, more secure parent-child bond like we do when working with teen children so that families begin to experience connections that heal. Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) provides a roadmap for the unique challenges of parent-to-near-equal child dynamic and the possibility of decades of stuck pattens.
