A SUPPORTIVE SPACE
Family conversations are facilitated by therapists who are there to guide you in identifying and opening blocks in parents that prevent teens from reaching out for support. Facilitators can serve as a resource and a guide to navigate family conversations that have been difficult in the past.
FOR PARENTS (Day 1)
On Day 1 parents will learn core concepts of attachment relationships with teens and begin to identify stuck patterns of interaction between themselves and their teen(s). We will discuss how parents often become more reactive as their teens begin to push them away, and explore how parents can share their reactivity with their partner (or another support person).
FOR TEENS & Parents (Days 2)
Day 2 alternates between multi-family group activities, discussion time, and family breakout groups. During each breakout, families have conversations guided by a trained facilitator. During this process there is time for parents to support one another and for teens to support each other as they discover that other families have challenges similar to their own.
