A SUPPORTIVE SPACE
in our Parent and Teen Workshop
Parent and teen workshop break-out sessions are guided by therapists who help you identify and remove parent blocks that that make it hard teens to reach out for support. Facilitators serve as a resource and a guide to help navigate family conversations that have been difficult in the past.
FOR PARENTS (Day 1)
Day 1 starts with reviewing core concepts of attachment relationships. Then the competing attachment needs of teens will be explored. Next, parents will start to notice their stuck patterns with their teen(s). We will discuss how parents often become more reactive as their teens begin to reach for more freedom. Parents will practice sharing their reactivity with their partner (or another support person).
FOR TEENS & Parents (Day 2)
During day 2 we will shifts between multi-family group activities with discussion time, and family break-outs. During each break-out families have time to work on their exercise independently. Then they will be joined by a trained therapist/facilitator to guide the parent and teen conversation. After lunch parents and teens will divide into groups to support each another. Finally, the day will end with teens choosing the level of openness they want to have in their final break-out session.
